In this episode of Rocket Talk, Justin is joined by authors Ferrett Steinmetz and Monica Byrne. They talk about their experience at the Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers’ Workshop in 2008, how genre classifications worry them as writers, and about how alt-sex influences their writing.

After twenty years of wandering desolate as a writer, Ferrett Steinmetz attended the Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers’ Workshop in 2008 and was rejuvenated. Since then, he’s sold stories to Asimov’s Science Fiction, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Shimmer, and Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine, among others. His debut novel from Angry Robot Books, Flex, hits stores on March 3. Find him on Twitter @ferretthimself.

Monica Byrne is a writer and playwright based in Durham, NC. She has a pilot’s license, a yoga teacher certification, and one very-marked-up passport. She holds degrees in biochemistry from Wellesley and MIT. Her debut novel, The Girl in the Road has been nominated for a Kitschie. Find her on Twitter @monicabyrne13.
